Advertisers FAQ

Q: Why should I advertise on vehicles?

A: Vehicles traveling a regular commute in regular traffic will average 7 impressions per mile traveled. Vehicles traveling regularly in heavy traffic along busy corridors can average impressions much, much higher. There is simply no more cost effective and affordable way to reach the same number of people.

Q: Why should I do it with RentMyWindshield.com?
A: The over-riding advantage to RentMyWindshield.com is that it reduces any middlemen, brokers and ad agencies. You deal directly with the owners of the space, the drivers themselves, and can thus negotiate prices far and away lower than you ever could through a traditional outdoor advertising broker.

Q: What can I advertise on vehicles?

A: Just about any message can be placed on a vehicle. Drivers do have discretion so if your message is controversial it won’t be easy to find a driver willing to carry it, but most RentMyWindshield Drivers are happy to carry logos, event invitations, web addresses and special promotions that keep your business buzzing.

Q: How much does it cost to use RentMyWindshield.com?
A: Nothing, registering and taking full advantage of RentMyWinshield.com is absolutely free. All negotiations are carried out privately between advertisers and drivers. Likewise, artwork production and installation is negotiated privately between the design or production studio and the advertiser.

Q: Who uses RentMyWindshield.com?

A: RentMyWindshield.com is the chosen site for local and small business on up to the big guys who want to take advantage of the medium’s unique and affordable advantages. Anyone who wants to put a message before the eyes of the public in an eye-catching and attention grabbing way should register.

Q: Who can join RentMyWindshield.com?
A: Anyone can join. RentMyWindshield.com is totally free. Local and Small Businesses join because we’re much more cost effective than traditional media, publicity and advertising outlets. Advertising Brokers and Buyers interested in presenting some of our drivers to their clients can also take advantage of the site. Of course, any driver interested in getting paid to do the driving their already doing is welcome to sign up and show off their car.

Q: Is this the same as a car wrap?
A: RentMyWindshield concentrates on temporary, removable advertisements that are a more attractive option to more drivers. But we leave it up to our drivers to decide how much space on their car you can rent. There are drivers who will rent you the entire outside of a van and some who are only willing to give up a corner of their bumper. We specialize in finding drivers who are willing to advertise their windshields, bumpers, doors, and entire cars – but the negotiation and space rental is entirely between you and the driver.

Q: How can I use your service?
A: Simply sign up. That part is totally FREE! Once you do, you can begin to search for drivers right away. We also include helpful tips and articles for both drivers and advertisers to help you get started. You can also check out the resource section for businesses.

Q: Do you offer advertisement space on your website?

A: Yes. As RentMyWinshield.com grows, we want you to be part of the process. Contact Info@RentMyWindshield.com for details.

Q: Does RentMyWindshield get paid if I find a driver to advertise with?
A: No. The payment process is a totally private negotiation and RentMyWindshield is not a party to that negotiation.

Q: What kind of information will a driver’s profile tell me?
A: The driver’s profile questionnaire is designed to solicit the most pertinent information about the driver’s driving, commuting, and parking habits. We ask for the most basic and routine driving habits because this can provide you with an idea of the bare minimum that your message is being moved. This includes the normal route, the length of the trip in miles and in time – in light (ideal) traffic, routine traffic and heavy traffic.  We also ask about daytime and night-time parking, is it indoor or outdoor(?) and the number of special or non-routine trips that the driver makes in a week.

The driver’s profile will also tell you:
1.    The make, model and year of the vehicle
2.    What areas of the vehicle are available
3.    The length of time the driver would like to work with you
4.    How much the driver expects to be paid
5.    How the driver prefers to be paid

Drivers also include photos of their vehicles. Drivers are not required to fill in all the information and so you may need to ask directly if there is something missing or if your advertising plan includes something special.

Q: What should I look for when selecting a driver/negotiating a price?
A: This depends on the nature of the product, service or event you are advertising and, of course, on your budget and the route you are expecting to cover.
Drivers know that the longer, more congested commutes into heavy suburban and urban commercial areas are at a premium and these drivers will ask for a higher price.

In general, the length of the commute, in miles and time, offers some of the most exposure. You also want to look for daytime parking areas that are outdoor and near to heavily travelled corridors. If your budget is more moderate, then just about any driver can offer you a valuable way to get your message out there.

Q: Is there anything I can’t advertise?
A: Advertisers are prohibited from messages that promote hatred or discrimination, alcohol, tobacco or adult related services or products. Advertisers reported as soliciting space to promote these kinds of messages will have their accounts suspended pending a review of the communications in question.

Q: What about design, production and installation?
A: RentMyWindshield.com offers a selection of preferred vendors who can provide you with art specifications. They’ve done hundreds of jobs related to vehicle advertising and will be extremely efficient in getting your message out there affordably and quickly. Production and design costs are entirely a private negotiation between your business and the vendor. They’ve provided us with some general specifications which you can read here, but you’ll want to confirm sizes and specs based on the vehicle.

Installation of Rear Windshield banners and decals is performed by the driver. More demanding installations (wraps, etc) are generally performed by the production team who charge you accordingly.

Q: How can I confirm my ad was installed?
A: Because the negotiation and contract for the advertising rental is private, RentMyWinshield assumes no liability. Most advertisers ask the driver for a digital photo that includes the license plate number prior to making the payment for the advertising space rental.
